2007-2025... 18 years went after I first explored this beautiful place... looks like one may get to know the island pretty well, and travel to Taiwan may have become routine but love for “Isla Formosa” and it’s birds has not faded a bit. Oh, first time in 18 years we lost just about 3 days to bad weather, but, as it’s always been, this tour was just as successful in the end. We did well finding all the endemics, the most wanted Fairy Pitta and some excellent bonus species like a huge flock of immature summering Black-faced Spoonbills, Alpine Accentor, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Oriental Pratincole, Oriental Cuckoo, Grey-tailed Tattler, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Silver-backed Needletail, Golden Parrotbill, Ruddy-breasted Crake, Black Eagle, Nutcracker, Red Oriole and Greater Painted-snipe. If a birding area is in your heart it isn’t all that hard to perform well on a tour while it may be very tempting to list all of the highlights. There may be no need, I think people may get the message; must visit Taiwan! It’s increasingly popular and super rewarding indeed
